As of February 10, 2008 all hunts purchased for New Mexico will
have 5.625% state tax added to the invoice. We
accept the following credit cards (via PayPal) by clicking the icon
below. There is a 4% fee added to any credit card payment as
shipping-handling for using a credit card. If you send a check,
there are NO additional shipping-handling fees. You DO NOT have to
have a PayPal account to pay with a credit card - simply scroll down
in the payment window and click on 'I don't have a PayPal account"
and you will be directed to the credit card window.
When you pay with a credit card on the "Buy Now" button you may pay
any amount you wish toward the final payment of the hunt. NO HUNT is
reserved until a 50% payment is received. The balance of the hunt is
due 30 days prior to arrival -- sorry, no exceptions unless
specified in writing on the original invoice.
A 50% payment is required to book
a hunt plus 4% fee for using credit card -- no
4% fee if sending check/money order. All payments are
non-refundable. The balance of the hunt payment is due 30 days
prior to the scheduled hunt. (Payment MAY be applied to another
booking within the same season upon availability and per the
outfitter's discretion.) Hunting license, meat processing and
taxidermy services (or packing, shipping or delivery to/from
taxidermist) are not included in fees. Tipping is customary, see
TIPPING section.
ARRIVAL: No arrivals before
3:00PM -- and please, if you arrive in our area before 3:00PM we
will not be able to feed or house you before 3:00PM -- it's
impossible to plan meals for unscheduled guests and it causes us to
have to neglect guests who are already in camp. Please don't arrive
in camp until around 3:00PM.
DEPARTURE: Please remove your
personal items from the motel, tents, or other lodging facility
before 11:00AM on the last day of your hunt - outfitter is NOT
RESPONSIBLE for persons exceeding/staying beyond the prescribed
check-out time -- if you need an extra overnight stay we can usually
arrange that for a slight additional fee WITH 30 DAYS ADVANCE
NOTICE.
LODGING: Each package (except day hunts) include
modest, clean, comfortable lodging (can be motels, tent camp or
other facility to be determined by outfitter prior to each hunt)
with good food (cafes, camp cook, and/or restaurants) and
experienced, knowledgeable guides. All overnight sleeping
accommodations are based on double occupancy unless otherwise
arranged for by the individual hunter.
FOOD SERVICE: Meals begin on the night of your arrival
and ends with the evening meal on the last day of your hunt. Coffee
and coffee makers are available for your use along with boot dryers
when available. If you have special dietary needs, we will do our
best to accommodate them--just remember that if you don't give us
advanced notice, we are limited in how we can assist you.
FIELD PREPARATION OF ANIMAL:
For those with deer, elk or antelope, we will remove the animal from
the field, dress it, rough cape it and prepare the carcass for
transportation in your vehicle. Come prepared with enough coolers to
transport your game -- there are only limited resources to purchase
coolers at most of our hunting locations. In other words, it can be
difficult to find large coolers anywhere near the hunting area.
TAXIDERMY: Excellent
taxidermy is available and we will be happy to deliver your game to
our taxidermist for a $55 transportation charge. All fees, payments
or other charges for taxidermy are the sole/separate responsibility
of the hunter.
Tipping:
A Guide to Tipping on Your Hunt
Tipping your guide is customary. Every year a few of our guests take
me aside and ask about our tipping policy. This question is awkward
for me to answer. In short, we don't have a "tip policy." Tips are
not the driving factor behind the everyday courtesies and
considerations afforded our guests. We're all in this business
because we love to hunt and we love the outdoors. On the other hand,
gratuities are important to our guides and behind-the scenes help,
so let me take a shot at making you aware of what I think about tips
- and why.
At HuntHere, we play "team ball", which means to every degree
possible you will be helped on your hunting trip by all our
staff--INCLUDING Roseann and myself. If you harvest a elk, mule
deer, or antelope, it is quite possible that another guide will
assist in bringing out your game. We make an extreme effort to get
your harvested animal out of the hunting area as expeditiously as
possible, even if it means a radio call to another guide/staff
person for assistance.
Guides sometimes share in picking up hunters for each other,
servicing vehicles, and hauling meat to the butcher, cleaning up
around camp and prepping for the cook. You will usually hunt with
one guide during the course of your hunt, but may not be aware of
the effort expended by the guide you never hunted with - effort on
your behalf!
For these reasons, I think that at least part of your tip money
(probably 1/2 to 2/3) should go into a group tip. The remaining
portion should go to the guide, or guides, you either spent the most
time with or found the most helpful.
The other question most asked is - how much should I tip? I don't
believe there is a hard and fast answer for this one, as it
partially depends on your ability to pay and the kind of service you
feel you have received. Typically our deer season rifle hunters tip
between $100 and $200 per hunter. Assuming you are planning on
tipping $150, a reasonable approach might be to tip your guide $50,
with the remaining $100 going towards the group tip. The total group
tip is split equally by all the guides and behind-the-scenes help. A
second example is that bird hunters general leave $60-100 per
hunter. Assuming a tip of $75, you might tip your guide $25, with
the remaining $50 going in the group tip basket. Nothing is set in
concrete, these are simply guidelines.
On the other hand, if you believe that the service, courtesies
and considerations during your trip were LESS than you expected,
PLEASE DON'T LEAVE WITHOUT ALERTING US!

Roseann Mayer
